03/10/2010 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Greg Monroe finished with 16 points and seven rebounds, as No. 22 Georgetown defeated South Florida, 69-49, in the second round of the Big East Tournament.
Jason Clark sank four three-pointers and finished with 16 points, while Chris Wright added 15 for the Hoyas (21-9), who will face top-seeded Syracuse on Thursday.
Georgetown had lost to USF in the only regular season matchup between the teams on November 3 at home. But the Hoyas limited the Bulls (20-12) to under 30 percent shooting Wednesday to get the win, their second in a row. Georgetown hadn't won two straight since early February.
Dominique Jones ended with 21 points to pace USF but shot just 6-of-18. Augustus Gilchrist added nine points and eight rebounds in the loss.
Gilchrist hit a jumper about five minutes into the game for a 6-4 USF lead, but Georgetown followed with a 17-3 run, which Julian Vaughn capped with two free throws for a 21-9 lead with five minutes to play in the half.
The Hoyas went into the break with a 31-19 advantage.
South Florida pulled within six several times early in the second half, including when Gilchrist's dunk had the Bulls down only 37-31. But Georgetown countered with a Hollis Thompson three and Wright jumper to restore a double- digit cushion.
Just past the midway point, Wright drained a three and Austin Freeman followed with a jumper to make it a 53-39 game with eight minutes left, and the Hoyas pulled away from there.

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Odds
Will he or won't he? Now that the Dallas Cowboys have a new head coach in Wade Phillips, the big question will be: Does Terrell Owens stay with the team.
Jerry Jones continues to suggest that Terrell Owens will remain with the team.
"I've said that he's back, he's here, he's under contract," Jones said. "In the interviews I've just been through (to hire a new coach), it was very clear to me how highly he's thought of and how much of an impact he had on our offensive success."
Just to be sure though, Terrell Owens cleared out his locker and removed his name plate.
Terrell Owens was among the Cowboys most productive players this past season, catching 85 passes for 1,180 yards and a league-best 13 touchdowns.
But T.O. is due a $3 million roster bonus in June, then a $5 million salary this season. Cutting him before then would save a lot of money and headaches.
Aside from the questions surrounding Terrell Owens, the oddsmakers at MySportsbook.com have concerns over starting quarterback Tony Romo's state of mind and whether he will remain a starting quarterback. It is also not known how players will adjust to new head coach, Wade Phillips.
